Jammin' colorS: nuevo sitio, las mismas maravillosas ideas para el management de músicos / new site, the same wonderful ideas for musicians management

Long time ago, one of the first articles on euskir music, was about people I respect for their commitment, helping musicians to keep their artistic freedom, and the news about the new site from my good friends at Jammin' colorS, is a great opportunity to talk again about their beautiful work.

Of course Stefany Calembert it's still behind the wheel, the Jammin' colorS's mastermind, as I like to call her...

But there's not only a new and fantastic website, new services too, as the very, very interesting "Music In The Cities", to support independent musicians in their search for the kind of tour according to the times we're living, a tool that many will find very attractive.

Belgium is where Jammin' colorS central office it's located, but the idea, from the beginning, goes beyond physical frontiers, and these days they're offering an excellent support to important artists as: Reggie Washington, Jef Lee Johnson, Herve Samb, the Oliver Lake Steel Quartet.

No genre or style limitations, only love for the best music, and don't forget it, the artistic freedom for each one of the artists involved.

Visit the new Jammin' colorS site (you'll find them also at their su Facebook Page), to see the project with your own eyes, and to listen with your own ears, honestly, one the best musical projects I know.

Estoy escuchando: Saltuk - "Sisifos Hikayeleri" (Karga, 2009) / I'm listening: Saltuk - "Sisifos Hikayeleri" (Karga, 2009)

Saltuk - "Sisifos Hikayeleri" (Karga, 2009).

Saltuk - "Sisifos Hikayeleri" (Karga, 2009). Librillo / Booklet.

For some Turkey must be a mysterious land, and if we talk about music, much more, but not for me.
If you pay attention to the musicians links list at the right, you'll find more than a name from that beautiful country, and the cultural richness it's not only related to Turkey's past.

A couple of years ago I had the chance to listen a new musician (at least for me), and today I can say that he's not only a talented artist, he has a great sense of humour to face his own art, and that's always and additional pleasure, if you don't know him, I invite you all to meet Saltuk Erginer.

This recording is a great first step to discover Saltuk, from the distorted guitar in the intro to the funny "Kismetse Hiphop"; the beautiful slow blues "Saatler"; "Ayrilik", with a subtle electronic background and its folkloric sweet air; some slight jazz air in "Neyzen T.", but also, as in most of the pieces, leaving some space for the fantastic Turkish roots; the strong progressive rock from "Hüzün"; the sweet ballad, at least until some middle of the road surprise, called "Aşk"; and then, the tenderness and sadness from "Son Tren"; "Sol Şeritte" and its hypnotic beat;, a great vehicle for the bass on "Gözler"; two blues, "Efkar", and "Bu Gün", showing that Saltuk is not any kind of musician, he's a great one, closing the album with a melancholic instrumental piece, "Hrant".

Please, open your ears, hearts and souls, to Saltuk Erginer's music, you'll not be disappointed, there's beauty, and love for the best art, even in the most far away lands.

Michael Jackson: al otro lado del espejo / Michael Jackson: at the other side of the mirror

Well, time it's beginning to put all the things in the right place, and will be even better in the future, Michael Jackson's talent will stay in the surface, above all the garbage we're getting these days from the mass, and the not so mass, media.
An interesting thing, between many, the few times that Quincy Jones's name appears, even with all the brightness from Michael Jackson, would be impossible to understand his career putting Quincy Jones wonderful work aside.
"Off the wall" (Sony, 1979) was just the first step, from a fantastic partnership between two artists in love with the team work, that's another basic weapon in Michael Jackson's music, the ability to build creative teams, an important key for any artist, and if you're intelligent enough, as Michael Jackson>, your're in the right track, if you're not, that's a road to nowhere.
Many records, as a child, Jackson Five, and beyond, in each stage there's beauty, no matter if we're talking about pop, rock, soul, funk, R&B, Michael Jackson, as all the great artists, he's not under any label, except, of course, wonderful music and great dance movements.
In this blog, dedicated mainly to art, specially to music, I can't avoid the responsibility to remember his art and music, and we're lucky because there's a lot of music to enjoy, for all the years and generations to come.
My love to Michael Jackson family, and real friends, and for him, thanks Michael Jackson, thanks for the beauty of your music, now and forever.

Manteca! Jazz Trío: buena música en Bar Bárbaro / Manteca! Jazz Trío: good music at Bárbaro Bar

Reggie Washington & Fabrice Alleman: homenaje a la música de / tribute to the music of John Coltrane & Wayne Shorter

If I look back, this year, almost reaching the end, was a wonderful year in terms of new music, and some of the guilt belongs to the people at Jammin' colorS, specially the "orchestra woman" there: Stefany Calembert (also involved in a beautiful music project called TIBOO!).
From her came the invitation to this tribute to John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter, from other two musicians with great talent: Reggie Washington (acoustic & electric bass) and Fabrice Alleman (tenor sax, soprano sax, clarinet).
Reggie Washington's career it's not absolutely unknown for me, I can't say the same about Fabrice Alleman. But now, knowing a little more about both, well my friends, I'm really sad because I'm not going to be this november 30, and december 1, 2007, 10 pm, at the Sounds Jazz Club (Rue de la Tulipe, 28, 1050 Brussels, Belgium).
My feelings, to be honest, I think these people are opening doors, connecting spaces, doing a lot for the music, I know someday the tribute will be for them.
On november 30 and december 1, Reggie Washington and Fabrice Alleman will be sharing their love for John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter with all of us, we can't reject the invitation. I know I'll be there, somehow...

Tifus: rock, funk, reggae & +, en Bed Baires, septiembre 8, 2007 / Tifus: rock, funk, reggae & +, at Bed Baires, september 8, 2007

Rock, out there, a lot, but this project, a band called Tifus, sounds interesting.

For me the difference it's based on the intelligence to compose and play rock with other elements, without afraid to add styles, like funk, reggae, some slight jazz influences.

datrebiL: buenas noticias, presentación del nuevo álbum en vivo / datrebiL: good news, live new album presentation
