Esta mañana llegó con malas noticias sobre Thelonious Club, el sitio para música construido no sólo con ladrillos, también con toneladas de cuidado y amor por Lucas y Ezequiel Cutaia.
Espero que Thelonious Club y el gobierno de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires puedan alcanzar un acuerdo, para permitir al lugar continuar con los shows musicales, actualmente suspendidos por alguna oscura legislación.
En este momento Thelonious Club está sólo funcionando como bar, deseo, como todos los amantes de la música, que ellos puedan regresar pronto a sus actividades habituales.

This morning came with bad news about Thelonious Club, the place for music builded not only with bricks, also with tons of care and love by Lucas and Ezequiel Cutaia.
I hope that Thelonious Club and the government of the Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires can reach a deal, to allow the place to continue with the music shows, now suspended for some obscure legislation.
Right now Thelonious Club it's only working as a bar, I wish, like all music lovers, they can return to their usual activities soon.

Maynard Ferguson: en otras palabras / Maynard Ferguson: in other words

Necesito ser honesto, el no es uno de mis trompetistas favoritos, pero, por supuesto, no puedo negar que Maynard Ferguson es alguien difícil de evitar si hablamos de técnicas para tocar la trompeta, y el amor por la música fue siempre una carta de presentación para este hombre, que murió hace un par de días.

I need to be honest, he's not one of my favorite trumpet players, but, of course, I can deny that Maynard Ferguson is someone hard to avoid if we talk about trumpet playing techniques, and the love for the music was always a presentation card for this man, who died a couple of days ago.

Hay hoy una información, en Electronic Intifada, sobre la declaración del director de cine Ken Loach y su apoyo a un "boicot cultural" contra las instituciones culturales Israelíes apoyadas por el Estado.
Nuevamente, Ken Loach está mostrando su interés en preservar la dignidad y el verdadero amor por los pueblos viviendo bajo cruel opresión, en esta ocasión el pueblo Palestino.

Apoyo el llamamiento de los cineastas Palestinos, artistas y otros, para boicotear a las instituciones culturales Israelíes apoyadas por el Estado, y aliento a los demás a unirse a esta campaña.

Los Palestinos están siendo conducidos a realizar este boicot después de cuarenta años de ocupación de su tierra, destrucción de sus hogares y el secuestro y asesinato de civiles.

Ellos no tienen esperanza sobre un pronto final de esta opresión.

Como ciudadanos Británicos tenemos que reconocer nuestra responsabilidad. Debemos condenar a los gobiernos Británico y Norteamericano por apoyar y armar a Israel. Debemos también oponernos a las actividades terroristas de los gobiernos de Inglaterra y los Estados Unidos persistiendo con sus guerras ilegales y ocupaciones.

De esta forma, es imposible ignorar el llamado de mis camaradas Palestinos. Consecuentemente, declinaré cualquier invitación al Festival de Cine de Haifa u otras ocasiones similares.

There's an information today, at Electronic Intifada, about the statement from film director Ken Loach and his support to a "cultural boycott" against state sponsored Israeli cultural institutions.
Again, Ken Loach it's showing his interest to preserve dignity and true love for the people living under cruel oppresion, this time the Palestine people.


Full Statement by Ken Loach

I support the call by Palestinian film-makers, artists and others to boycott state sponsored Israeli cultural institutions and urge others to join their campaign.

Palestinians are driven to call for this boycott after forty years of the occupation of their land, destruction of their homes and the kidnapping and murder of their civilians.

They have no immediate hope that this oppression will end.

As British citizens we have to acknowledge our own responsibility. We must condemn the British and US governments for supporting and arming Israel. We must also oppose the terrorist activities of the British and US governments in pursuing their illegal wars and occupations.

However, it is impossible to ignore the appeals of Palestinian comrades. Consequently, I would decline any invitation to the Haifa Film Festival or other such occasions.

Ricardo Antin: ventana de ideas / Ricardo Antin: window of ideas

Desde hace una semana un nuevo blog está en internet, si, lo reconozco, nada fuera de lo ordinario, excepto por el hombre detrás del blog: Ricardo Antin.
Ventana de ideas no es sólo un blog bien escrito, algo que no es difícil para un hombre con un importante manojo de palabras en su equipaje, un hombre que en los sesentas hizo una contribución absolutamente extraordinaria a la publicidad en Argentina, abriendo el campo para los creativos en las agencias, para tomar control del poder interno, usual ahora, pero extraño e irreal entonces.
Novelas, teatro, cuentos, poesía, pero sólo un trabajo publicado, un hermoso y profundo libro de poemas llamado "La razón ausente" (1954), dedicado a su madre, y con algunas palabras para su esposa: "Con cada luz te construiré una lágrima" (1952).
Escarbando en mi memoria, bueno, hay también un disco: "Los ejecutivos también tienen alma" (1969), lanzado en un show adelantado a su tiempo, pero como casi todo en esas condiciones, con una fría respuesta de público.
El último artículo publicado: "Bartxola" es un buen ejemplo de lo que pueden esperar, un cariñoso relato breve sobre Euskadi y su gente, mostrando una profunda percepción de los sentimientos de la gente de todos los días.
Es un placer invitar a todos a visitar Ventana de ideas, porque está convirtiéndose en un lugar para las reflexiones, y historias olvidadas para retener en nuestras memorias, para recordar el desafío de una palabra escrita con cuidado y amor.


Since a week ago a new blog it's on internet, yes, I know, nothing out of the ordinary, except for the man behind the blog: Ricardo Antin.
Ventana de ideas it's not only a blog well written, something not hard for a man with an important bunch of words in his luggage, someone that in the sixties made an absolutely extraordinary contribution to the advertising in Argentina, opening the field for the creatives in the agencies, to take control of the inside power, usual now, but strange and unreal then.
Novels, theater, short stories, poetry, but only one published work, a beautiful and deep book of poems called "The absent reason" (1954), dedicated to his mother, and with some words for his wife: "With every light I will build you a tear" (1952).
Digging in my memory, well, there's also a record: "Los ejecutivos también tienen alma" ("The executives also have a soul") (1969), released in a show ahead of their time, but as almost everything in those conditions, with a cold public response.
The last post published: "Bartxola" it's a good example of what you can expect, a lovely short story of Euskadi and his people, showing an intense perception of feelings from the everyday people.
It's a pleasure to invite everyone to visit Ventana de ideas, because it's becoming in a place for reflections, and forgotten stories to hold in our memories, to remember the challenge of a word written with care and love.
