Inundaciones en Tucumán, Argentina

Lamentablemente algunas veces debemos dejar el arte a un lado, y hablar de situaciones tristes y desagradables, en este caso las graves inundaciones que están afectando la provincia de Tucumán, en Argentina.
Este es el comunicado que está haciendo circular la Red Solidaria para enviar ayuda a las personas afectadas por la inundación.


“La Red Solidaria prepara el primer envío de ayuda a doscientas familias tucumanas cuyas casas sufrieron una inundación de agua y barro"

Iniciando la campaña por Tucumán, los voluntarios de la red llevarán la ayuda a la Capilla San Cayetano de la Ciudad de Concepción, en donde los vecinos fueron sorprendidos por una corriente de agua y lodo que ingresó en las casas alcanzando el medio metro de altura.

La población está bien provista de agua y alimentos, enviados por la intendencia local, por el gobierno tucumano y por el gobierno nacional, pero inesperadamente perdieron todas sus pertenencias y necesitan también ropa, calzado, colchones y sábanas.

Es un inteligente e interesante punto de vista, y meditación, sobre la obra de teatro "Mi Nombre es Rachel Corrie" ("My Name is Rachel Corrie", dirigida por el actor Alan Rickman y co-editada por Katharine Viner). Rachel Corie, miembro del International Solidarity Movement, fue asesinada por las Fuerzas de Defensa Israelíes, ella estaba tratando de detener la demolición de un hogar Palestino.

It's a clever and interesting point of view, and meditation, about the play "My Name is Rachel Corrie" (directed by actor Alan Rickman and co-edited by Katharine Viner). Rachel Corie, member of the International Solidarity Movement, was killed by the Israeli Defense Forces, she was trying to stop the demolition of a Palestinian home.

El momento para el festival oficial de lanzamiento de The Brooklyn Jazz Underground está aquí. Este domingo, enero 14, 2007, 20:30 hs., Anne Mette Iversen estará tocando junto a lo Mejor del Oeste, su proyecto que incluye un cuarteto de jazz y un cuarteto de cuerdas.
El lugar: Smalls Jazz Club (W10th & 7th Ave, Manhattan), y para ser honesto, la música de esta gente es bastante nueva para mi, Anne Mette Iversen fue la "destapadora de oídos" hace algunos meses, y estoy realmente agradecido a Anne Mette.
Entonces únanse a esta talentosa contrabajista y compositora en la presentación del domingo, la buena música está garantizada.

Guadalupe Raventos estará el sábado, enero 13, 2007, 00:30 hs, en Notorious (Callao 966, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina).
Una cantante bien conocida por su talento en la improvisación vocal, pero también con un tierno buen gusto para desarrollar cada canción. Junto a Abel Patrone en piano, tocando modernos standards como "The Peacocks" ("Los Pavos Reales"), de Jimmy Rowles, y casi desconocidas melodías, como "Somebody cares" ("A alguien le importa"), de Duke Ellington, y la promesa, como en cada espectáculo de Guadalupe Raventos, de algunos buenos blues.

A singer well known for her talent in vocal improvisation, but also with a tender good taste to develope each song. Saddam Hussein y la pena de muerte / Saddam Hussein and the death penalty

El asesinato de Saddam Hussein se está convirtiendo en parte de las viejas noticias, ya no es más un hecho terrible, es sólo un titular desvaneciéndose, día tras día.
Estoy contra la pena de muerte, aún para un dictador, como Saddam Hussein, pero esta situación es irreal, incluyendo el juicio, lleno de agujeros contra la justicia, y detrás, el gobierno títere de Irak, con dos manos dirigiendo la "mise en scène", los gobiernos de los Estados Unidos e Inglaterra.
The Independent, el siempre interesante periódico británico, y su brillante periodista Robert Fisk, fueron lo mejor allí fuera, hablando sobre este trágico evento, artículos como "A dictator created then destroyed by America" ("Un dictador creado y luego destruido por América") y
"He takes his secrets to the grave. Our complicity dies with him" ("Se lleva sus secretos a la tumba. Nuestra complicidad muere con el"), explicando el ascenso al poder de Saddam Hussein,
Y sobre la situación inmoral en el momento del asesinato de Saddam Hussein, otro artículo de
Robert Fisk: "The whole bloody thing was obscene" ("Todo el maldito asunto fue obsceno"), también una sorprendente e inteligente reflexión de Mex Urtizberea: "Capuchas y horcas", en un periódico de Argentina, La Nación.
Ahora, hay sólo un camino de tristeza y horror delante del pueblo Iraquí, ellos necesitan una razón para vivir, no más muertes.


The killing of Saddam Hussein it's becoming part of the old news, it's not longer a terrible fact, is just a headline fading, day after day.
I'm against the death penalty, even for a dictator, like Saddam Hussein, but this situation is unreal, including the trial, full of holes against justice, and behind, the puppet governmet of Irak, with two hands directing the "mise en scène", the governments from the United States and England.
The Independent, the always interesting british newspaper, and his brilliant journalist Robert Fisk, were the best out there, talking about this tragic event, articles like "A dictator created then destroyed by America" and "He takes his secrets to the grave. Our complicity dies with him", explaining the raise to power from Saddam Hussein, with the helping hand from both, the British and the North Amercan governments.
And about the immoral situation in the moment of Saddam Hussein's killing, another Robert Fisk article: "The whole bloody thing was obscene", and also a surprising and intelligent reflection by Mex Urtizberea: "Capuchas y horcas" ("Hoods and scaffold"), in a newspaper from Argentina, La Nación.
Now, there's only a road of sadness and horror ahead of the Iraqi people, they need a reason to live, not more dead.
