Roberto Magris & Ricardo Cavalli: uniendo fuerzas en nombre del jazz / Roberto Magris & Ricardo Cavalli: joining forces in the name of jazz

Dos shows no fueron suficientes, pero por esta vez, bueno, eso fue lo que tuvimos Roberto Magris y Ricardo Cavalli, en "Notorious", la noche del viernes, junio 30 (alrededor de la medianoche), tocando algunos standards, mostrándonos la imbatible fuerza del lenguaje del jazz. Dos músicos, un primer encuentro, y la energía, y talento, para convertir "In a sentimental mood", de Duke Ellington, en algo fresco y nuevo.
El estilo al piano de Roberto Magris es original, y al mismo tiempo un sutil tributo a la música que ama, hay espacio inclusive para aprender sobre su tierra natal de Trieste, un sitio de Italia con una curiosa historia, una cuna de intercambio entre diferentes culturas.
Ricardo Cavalli fue el "socio en el crimen", temperamental, pero también con la habilidad de encontrar los huecos para la ternura, con un soberbio dominio del saxo tenor.
De dulces baladas a furiosos blues, músicos en la mejor forma de su arte.
Y para la noche del sábado, julio 1, en "Thelonious", Roberto y Ricardo (tocando también saxo soprano en esta ocasión), juntos nuevamente, con la "ayuda de algunos amigos" esta vez:
Guillermo Delgado en contrabajo, y Eloy Michelini en batería
El gran ambiente de "Thelonious" fue perfecto, el público estaba realmente impresionado por los músicos, y su música.
Nuevamente, la magia del "lenguaje del jazz". Después de la noche del viernes, Roberto y Ricardo, tocando como viejos compañeros, Guillermo y Eloy uniéndose a la fiesta, como los grandes músicos que son.
Un par de standards, pero principalmente material de Roberto Magris, como la hermosa "Il bello del jazz", o una evocativa melodía tradicional italiana, arreglada por Roberto, llamada "Storyteller".
Después de casi dos horas de jazz, blues, buena música en fin, un lenguaje que todos deben tratar de aprender, especialmente, como me gusta decir, en este loco mundo en que vivimos.

Two shows were not enough, but for this time, well, that's what we had.
Roberto Magris and Ricardo Cavalli, at "Notorious", on friday night, june 30 ('round midnight...), playing some standards, showing us the unbeatable force of the jazz language. Two musicians, a first time meeting, and the energy, and talent, to make from Duke Ellington's "In a sentimental mood" something fresh and new.
Roberto Magris piano style it's original, and at the same time a subtle tribute to the music he loves, there's space even to learn about his Trieste homeland, a place in Italy with a curious history, a cradle of interchanges between different cultures.
Ricardo Cavalli was the "partner in crime", temperamental, but also with the ability to find the holes for the tenderness, with a superb command of the tenor sax.

And for the saturday night, july 1, at "Thelonious", Roberto and Ricardo (playing also soprano sax this time), together again, with "a little help from some friends" this time: Guillermo Delgado on bass, and Eloy Michelini on drums. The great atmosphere of "Thelonious" was perfect, the public were really very impressed by the musicians, and their music. Again, the magic of the "jazz language". After the friday night, Roberto and Ricardo Cavalli, playing like old pals, Guillermo and Eloy joining the party, like the great musicians they are.
A couple of standards, but mainly Roberto Magris's material, like the beautiful "Il bello del jazz", or a poignant traditional melody from Italy, arranged by Roberto, called "Storyteller".
Almost two hours of jazz, blues, good music at last, a language everything must try to learn, specially, like I like to say, in this crazy world we live in.
