Estoy escuchando / I'm listening: Nicolás Chientaroli Trío - "La casa caliente" / "The hot house" (Sofá Records, 2011)

Esta grabación estuvo en las calles a fines de 2011, pero sólo unos meses luego del comienzo de 2012 finalmente cayó en mis manos

Es extraño cuando debemos hablar de la gran experiencia de músicos muy jóvenes, no sólo Nicolás Chientaroli (piano), Carlos Alvarez (contrabajo) y Hernán Rodríguez (batería) pueden decir mucho sobre sus maravillosas batallas musicales, los tres talentosos músicos son desde hace varios años una importante referencia en diferentes proyectos de la escena de jazz de Argentina.

"La casa caliente" (Sofá Records, 2011) es el segundo disco del trío, luego del fantástico "La música está prohibida" (2007), y aún cuando el primer álbum estaba claramente bajo la atmósfera del free jazz, este nuevo trabajo, manteniendo ese refrescante aire, es un creativo homenaje al jazz anterior a la vanguardia.

"Genekrupezca", y su loco swing de las viejas orquestas de jazz, saltando a nuestro presente con encanto y estilo.

"Pasos de gigante", desarrollando curiosos senderos entre la paz y la tensión.

"Thonk", una gran pieza musical donde uno puede comprender la presencia de los estupendos Carlos Alvarez (contrabajo) y Hernán Rodríguez (batería)

"¡¡Ahí vienen los indios!!" un mágico viaje hacia nuestras raíces, volando con la ayuda de las asombrosas sutilezas del piano de Nicolás Chientaroli.

"ABC", un momento vivaz para recuperar nuestro aliento.

"Donde hay un perro, cotiza la carne", algo de aire de blues siempre es bienvenido.

Y luego de estas seis bellas piezas musicales, tienen la oportunidad de abrir sus almas, corazones, y oídos, a la buena música, la clase de música que necesitamos para mantener neustros cerebros en buena forma, y felices.


This recording was on the streets by the end of 2011, but only some months after 2012 beginning it finally fell on my hands.

It is trange when we must talk about the great experience from very young musicians, not only Nicolás Chientaroli (piano), Carlos Alvarez (double bass) and Hernán Rodríguez (drums) can say a lot about their wonderful musical battles, the three talented musicians are from several year ago an important reference in different projects in jazz scene from Argentina.

"La casa caliente" / "The hot house" (Sofá Records, 2011) is the trio second album, after the fantastic "La música está prohibida" / "The music it's forbidden" (2007), and even when the first album was clearly under the free jazz atmosphere, this new work, keeping that refreshing air, is a creative tribute to the jazz before avant-garde.

"Genekrupezca", and its crazy swing from the old jazz orchestras, jumping to our present with charm and style.

"Pasos de gigante" / "Giant steps", developing curious paths between peace and tension.

"Thonk", a great musical piece where you can understand the presence from the marvellous Carlos Alvarez (double bass) and Hernán Rodríguez (drums)

"¡¡Ahí vienen los indios!! / "The indians are coming!!", a magical trip to our roots, flying with the help from Nicolás Chientaroli's amazing piano subtleties.

"ABC", a lively moment to catch our breath back.

"Donde hay un perro, cotiza la carne" / "Where there's a dog, meat price is high", some blues air is always welcome.

And after those beautiful six musical pieces, you've got the chance to open your souls, hearts, and ears, to good music, the kind of music we need to keep our brains in good shape, and happy.

Ada Rave Quinteto en Notorious / Ada Rave Quintet at Notorious

Cada año Ada Rave está más y más involucrada en lo mejor de la escena musical, con algunas grandiosas "armas musicales", creatividad y talento, entregando aire fresco a los cansados pulmones del jazz.
Su último álbum, "Proyecto Orgánico Rave - Los Ritos del Sueño" (2007), bueno, deben escuchar ese trabajo si no lo han hecho, una fantástica grabación, pero ahora, tenemos la oportunidad de escuchar su saxo en otro entorno.
El Ada Rave Quinteto estará tocando este lunes por la noche, marzo 30, 2009, 21:30 hs., en Notorious (Av. Callao 966, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina), Ada Rave (saxo tenor y composiciones), Francisco Salgado (trombón), Nicolás Chientaroli (piano), Carlos Alvarez (contrabajo), Pablo Díaz (batería), y con un invitado especial, el único e incomparable Enrique Norris (corneta y piano).
Música de "Proyecto Orgánico Rave - Los Ritos del Sueño" (2007), pero también bellos sonidos de Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus y Ornette Coleman.
Si quieren abrir sus almas y oídos al mundo del mejor jazz moderno, deben estar allí el próximo lunes, yo lo haré.

No quiero sonar demasiado atrevido, llamando a esta nueva sección del blog "una idea", pero...
Estoy escuchando música todo el tiempo, no existe un sólo día sin música, alguna nueva, alguna del pasado, principalmente buena, creo yo, y quiero compartir esta experiencia auditiva con todos ustedes.
No voy a publicar estos comentarios en un día en especial, pero trataré de mantener un buen ritmo.
Y la primera "víctima" es...

Nicolás Chientaroli Trío - La música está prohibida (2007).

La escena del jazz en Argentina está viviendo un extraño proceso, especialmente después de la gran explosión de hace algunos años, ahora existe una crisis, ustedes saben, es Argentina.
Algunos aspectos de esta situación, los "buenos" diría, son que estamos disfrutando música de un gran número de excelentes artistas, claramente, el Nicolás Chientaroli Trío está entre ellos.
El material incluido en el álbum no es el habitual para la grabación de un trío, desde mi punto de vista eso es algo bueno, y el único "standard" es la maravillosa composición de Ornette Coleman "Law years".
El pianista Nicolás Chientaroli posee un gran talento, el puede desarrollar un ritmo rápido, el que está en la pieza que abre, "Vivo", no solo por supuesto, con la gran ayuda de Carlos Alvarez en contrabajo y Hernán Rodríguez en batería, y en la misma grabación, la sutil balada "Nocturna", fluyendo bellamente a través de las manos del Trío.
Las otras composiciones son material interesante de un músico que debemos escuchar, y sus socios en el proyecto están profundamente involucrados en la música que ejecutan. Una nota especial sobre la hipnótica y potente última pieza, "El Hombre Lechuza".
Espero puedan encontrarlo allí fuera, se que no es una tarea fácil, la buena música es más difícil de encontrar día tras día, desconozco el motivo, bueno, no, no soy un mentiroso, lo se...


I don't want to sound too bold, calling this new section from the blog "an idea", but...
I'm listening music all the time, there's not a single day without music, some new, some from the past, mainly good, I think, and I want to share this listening experience with all of you.
I'm not going to publish these comments on a particular day, but I'll try to keep a good rhythm.

Nicolás Chientaroli Trio - La música está prohibida (The music it's forbidden) (2007).

The jazz scene in Argentina it's living a strange process, specially after the big explosion from some years ago, now there's a crisis, you know, is Argentina.
Some aspects from this situation, the "good ones" I would say, are that we're enjoying music from a great number of excellent artists, clearly, the Nicolás Chientaroli Trio it's among them.
The material included in the album is not the usual for a trio recording, from my point of view that's a good thing, and the only "standard" is the wonderful Ornette Coleman's composition "Law years".
The pianist Nicolás Chientaroli has a wide talent, he can develop a fast rhythm, like the one in the opening piece, "Vivo" ("Alive"), not alone of course, with the great help from Carlos Alvarez on acoustic bass and Hernán Rodríguez on drums, and in the same recording, the subtle ballad "Nocturna" ("Nocturnal"), flowing beautifully through the Trio's hands.
The other compositions are interesting material from a musician we must listen, and his partners in the project are deeply involved in the music played. A special note about the hypnotic and powerful last piece, "El Hombre Lechuza" ("The Owl Man").
I hope you can find it out there, I know this is not an easy task, good music is day after day harder to find, I don't know why, well, no, I'm not a liar, I know...
