Jazz clásico y moderno, de Glenn Miller a Herbie Hancock, e incluyendo a Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, y mucho más.
La cita, este sábado 29, diciembre 2007, 21:30 hs., en el Auditorio de la A.M.I.A. (Pasteur 633, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina).
Bajo la dirección de Cosme Tarantino, una orquesta con mucha hermosa música para compartir.

Classic and modern jazz, from Glenn Miller to Herbie Hancock, and including Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, and much more.

Reggie Washington & Fabrice Alleman: homenaje a la música de / tribute to the music of John Coltrane & Wayne Shorter

Si miro hacia atrás, este año, casi llegando a su fin, fue un maravilloso año en términos de música nueva, y algo de la culpa pertenece a la gente de Jammin' colorS, especialmente la "mujer orquesta" allí, Stefany Calembert (también involucrada en un hermoso proyecto musical llamado TIBOO!).
De su parte llegó la invitación para este homenaje a John Coltrane y Wayne Shorter, de otros dos músicos con gran talento: Reggie Washington (contrabajo & bajo eléctrico) y Fabrice Alleman (saxo tenor, saxo soprano, clarinete).
La carrera de Reggie Washington no es absolutamente desconocida para mi, no puedo decir lo mismo sobre Fabrice Alleman. Pero, ahora, conociendo un poco más sobre ambos, bueno mis amigos, estoy realmente triste porque no voy a estar este noviembre 30, y diciembre 1, 2007, 22:00 hs., en el Sounds Jazz Club (Rue de la Tulipe, 28, 1050 Bruselas, Bélgica).
Mis sentimientos, para ser honesto, pienso que esta gente está abriendo puertas, conectando espacios, haciendo mucho por la música, se que algún día el homenaje será para ellos.
El 30 de noviembre y el 1 de diciembre, Reggie Washington y Fabrice Alleman estarán compartiendo su cariño por John Coltrane y Wayne Shorter con todos nosotros, no podemos rechazar la invitación. Se que estaré allí, de alguna forma...

If I look back, this year, almost reaching the end, was a wonderful year in terms of new music, and some of the guilt belongs to the people at Jammin' colorS, specially the "orchestra woman" there: Stefany Calembert (also involved in a beautiful music project called TIBOO!).
From her came the invitation to this tribute to John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter, from other two musicians with great talent: Reggie Washington (acoustic & electric bass) and Fabrice Alleman (tenor sax, soprano sax, clarinet).
Reggie Washington's career it's not absolutely unknown for me, I can't say the same about Fabrice Alleman. But now, knowing a little more about both, well my friends, I'm really sad because I'm not going to be this november 30, and december 1, 2007, 10 pm, at the Sounds Jazz Club (Rue de la Tulipe, 28, 1050 Brussels, Belgium).
My feelings, to be honest, I think these people are opening doors, connecting spaces, doing a lot for the music, I know someday the tribute will be for them.
On november 30 and december 1, Reggie Washington and Fabrice Alleman will be sharing their love for John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter with all of us, we can't reject the invitation. I know I'll be there, somehow...

Joe Zawinul: jazz es el lenguaje / Joe Zawinul: jazz is the language

Joe Zawinul será siempre un músico de jazz, lo se, todos los críticos allí fuera utilizando la palabra con "f", "fusión", pero, como Miles Davis, y otros grandes músicos de jazz, el jazz está en cada una de las interpretaciones de Joe Zawinul, el conoció, muy joven, una fórmula mágica, jazz = libertad.
Desde los primeros años, luego de su acercamiento académico al piano, más tarde, en la banda de Cannonball Adderley, ¡qué gran talento con el piano eléctrico! ("Mercy, mercy, mercy" - 1966 -), su presencia en "In a silent way" (1969), de Miles Davis, una marca indeleble en la historia del jazz.
Weather Report, con el gran Wayne Shorter, fue un gran paso, un laboratorio del sonido, basado en la creatividad como fuerza principal, no tan lejos del Zawinul Syndicate, un movimiento hacia una mayor libertad musical.
Y un comentario especial, sobre su habilidad para escribir exquisitas melodías, para nombrar unas pocas "Midnight mood", "A remark you made", "I'll never forget you".
Tantas cosas para agradecerte Joe Zawinul, gracias Joe, gracias por tu música.

Joe Zawinul will be forever a jazz musician, I know, all the critics out there using the "f" word, "fusion", but, as Miles Davis, and many other great jazz musicians, jazz it's in each one of Joe Zawinul performances, he knew, quite young, a magic formula, jazz = freedom.
From the early years, after his academic approach to the piano, later, on Cannonball Adderley band, what a great talent with the electric piano! ("Mercy, mercy, mercy" - 1966 -), his presence in Miles Davis's "In a silent way" (1969), an indelible mark in jazz history.
Weather Report, with the great Wayne Shorter, was a big step, a laboratory of sound, based on creativity as the main force, not so far from Zawinul Syndicate, a movement towards a bigger musical freedom.
And one special comment, about his ability to write exquisite melodies, to name a few: "Midnight mood", "A remark you made", "I'll never forget you".
So many things to thank you Joe Zawinul, thanks Joe, thanks for your music.

Wayne Shorter, Premio Donostiako Jazzaldia 2007 / Wayne Shorter, Donostiako Jazzaldia Award 2007

Wayne Shorter y Donostia, ¡qué combinación!, uno de mis músicos favoritos de todos los tiempos, y una de mis ciudades favoritas, la hermosa Donostia.
Buena idea de la gente del festival de jazz, el 42º Donostia Jazzaldia, porque Wayne Shorter está vivito y coleando, mostrándonos su maravillosa música en cada paso.
Este premio no es un homenaje a una estrella en decadencia, entonces tenemos que agradecer, no sólo a Wayne Shorter, también a los organizadores del Donostia Jazzaldia.
Excelente jazz en Euskadi estos días, como todo verano.
Y sobre Wayne Shorter, tres experiencias en su vida musical son suficientes para comprender su importancia como saxofonista y compositor: Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Miles Davis y Weather Report.
Felicitaciones Wayne Shorter, y gracias nuevamente, gracias por tu música.


Wayne Shorter and Donostia, what a combination!, one of my favorites musicians of all times, and one of my favorite cities, the beautiful Donostia.
Good idea from the people from the jazz festival, the 42º Donostia Jazzaldia, because Wayne Shorter it's alive and kicking, showing us his wonderful music in each step.
This award is not a tribute to a fading star, then we've got to say thanks, not only to Wayne Shorter, also to the organizers of Donostia Jazzaldia.
Excellent jazz in Euskadi these days, like every summer.
And about Wayne Shorter, three experiences in his musical life are enough to understand his importance as saxophone player and composer: Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Miles Davis and Weather Report.
