Jammin' colorS: nuevo sitio, las mismas maravillosas ideas para el management de músicos / new site, the same wonderful ideas for musicians management

Hace mucho tiempo, uno de los primeros artículos en euskir music, fue sobre gente que respeto for su dedicación, ayudando a los músicos a mantener su libertad artística, y la noticia sobre el nuevo sitio de mis amigos en Jammin' colorS, es una gran oportunidad para hablar nuevamente sobre su bello trabajo.

Por supuesto Stefany Calembert está aún detrás del volante, la mente maestra de Jammin' colorS como me gusta llamarla...

Pero no hay solamente un nuevo y fantástico website, también nuevos servicios. como el muy, muy interesante, "Music In The Cities" ("Música En Las Ciudades"), para apoyar a los músicos independientes en su búsqueda de la clase de tour acorde a los tiempos que vivimos, una herramienta que muchos encontrarán muy atractiva.

Bélgica es donde la oficina central de Jammin' colorS está ubicada, pero la idea, desde el comienzo, va más allá de las fronteras físicas, y en estos días ellos están ofreciendo un excelente apoyo a importantes artistas como: Reggie Washington, Jef Lee Johnson, Herve Samb, el Oliver Lake Steel Quartet.

Sin limitaciones de género o estilo, sólo cariño por la mejor música, y no lo olviden, la libertad artística para cada uno de los músicos involucrados.

Long time ago, one of the first articles on euskir music, was about people I respect for their commitment, helping musicians to keep their artistic freedom, and the news about the new site from my good friends at Jammin' colorS, is a great opportunity to talk again about their beautiful work.

Of course Stefany Calembert it's still behind the wheel, the Jammin' colorS's mastermind, as I like to call her...

But there's not only a new and fantastic website, new services too, as the very, very interesting "Music In The Cities", to support independent musicians in their search for the kind of tour according to the times we're living, a tool that many will find very attractive.

Belgium is where Jammin' colorS central office it's located, but the idea, from the beginning, goes beyond physical frontiers, and these days they're offering an excellent support to important artists as: Reggie Washington, Jef Lee Johnson, Herve Samb, the Oliver Lake Steel Quartet.

No genre or style limitations, only love for the best music, and don't forget it, the artistic freedom for each one of the artists involved.

Si miro hacia atrás, este año, casi llegando a su fin, fue un maravilloso año en términos de música nueva, y algo de la culpa pertenece a la gente de Jammin' colorS, especialmente la "mujer orquesta" allí, Stefany Calembert (también involucrada en un hermoso proyecto musical llamado TIBOO!).
De su parte llegó la invitación para este homenaje a John Coltrane y Wayne Shorter, de otros dos músicos con gran talento: Reggie Washington (contrabajo & bajo eléctrico) y Fabrice Alleman (saxo tenor, saxo soprano, clarinete).
La carrera de Reggie Washington no es absolutamente desconocida para mi, no puedo decir lo mismo sobre Fabrice Alleman. Pero, ahora, conociendo un poco más sobre ambos, bueno mis amigos, estoy realmente triste porque no voy a estar este noviembre 30, y diciembre 1, 2007, 22:00 hs., en el Sounds Jazz Club (Rue de la Tulipe, 28, 1050 Bruselas, Bélgica).
Mis sentimientos, para ser honesto, pienso que esta gente está abriendo puertas, conectando espacios, haciendo mucho por la música, se que algún día el homenaje será para ellos.
El 30 de noviembre y el 1 de diciembre, Reggie Washington y Fabrice Alleman estarán compartiendo su cariño por John Coltrane y Wayne Shorter con todos nosotros, no podemos rechazar la invitación. Se que estaré allí, de alguna forma...

If I look back, this year, almost reaching the end, was a wonderful year in terms of new music, and some of the guilt belongs to the people at Jammin' colorS, specially the "orchestra woman" there: Stefany Calembert (also involved in a beautiful music project called TIBOO!).
From her came the invitation to this tribute to John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter, from other two musicians with great talent: Reggie Washington (acoustic & electric bass) and Fabrice Alleman (tenor sax, soprano sax, clarinet).
Reggie Washington's career it's not absolutely unknown for me, I can't say the same about Fabrice Alleman. But now, knowing a little more about both, well my friends, I'm really sad because I'm not going to be this november 30, and december 1, 2007, 10 pm, at the Sounds Jazz Club (Rue de la Tulipe, 28, 1050 Brussels, Belgium).
My feelings, to be honest, I think these people are opening doors, connecting spaces, doing a lot for the music, I know someday the tribute will be for them.
On november 30 and december 1, Reggie Washington and Fabrice Alleman will be sharing their love for John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter with all of us, we can't reject the invitation. I know I'll be there, somehow...

Melanie De Biasio: hermosa música... / Melanie De Biasio: beautiful music...

Hace algunos días estaba hablando con un amigo sobre la falta de "frescura" en la escena musical, y un ejemplo de lo opuesto vino a mi mente: Melanie De Biasio (julio 12, 1978, Charleroi, Bélgica. Desconozco que está comiendo la gente de Bélgica, pero hay una extraordinaria cantidad de grandes artistas viniendo de allí en estos días).
Su voz puede ser tierna, algunas veces cercana a sentimientos de desesperanza y pena, y arriba nuevamente, gracias a una maravillosa noción del ritmo.
Un comentario especial sobre los talentosos músicos a su alrededor, en su último disco: "A stomach is burning" ("Un estómago está ardiendo") (Igloo, 2007), pueden encontrar a Pascal Mohy en piano, Teun Verbruggen en batería, Axel Gilain en contrabajo, Pascal Paulus en Wurlitzer, Clavinet, Hammond, y como invitado especial, Steve Houben en flauta y saxo.
Entonces, si están cansados de la chatura de la música de hoy en día, hay una excelente oportunidad para disfrutar de Melanie De Biasio, y su interesante, y hermoso punto de vista, sobre una música que llamamos jazz, pero, con la música de Melanie De Biasio, siempre hay algo más, y no hay tiempo para tontas etiquetas musicales.


Some days ago I was talking with a friend about the lack of "freshness" in the music scene, and an example from the opposite came to my mind: Melanie De Biasio (july 12, 1978, Charleroi, Belgium. I don't know what the people of Belgium are eating, but there's an extraordinary amount of great artists coming from there these days).
Her voice can be tender, sometimes close to feelings of despair and sorrow, and up again, thanks to a wonderful conception of rhythm.
A special comment about the talented musicians around her, in her last record: "A stomach is burning" (Igloo, 2007), you can find Pascal Mohy on piano, Teun Verbruggen on drums, Axel Gilain on double bass, Pascal Paulus on Wurlitzer, Clavinet, Hammond, and as special guest, Steve Houben on flute and saxophone.
So, if you're tired of the flatness of today's music, there's an excellent chance to enjoy Melanie De Biasio, and her interesting, and beautiful point of view, about a music we call jazz, but, with Melanie De Biasio's music, there's always something more, and no time for silly music labels.
