No tiene mucho sentido hablar sobre fotografía, todo lo que necesitan hacer para disfrutar la experiencia, sólo abrir sus ojos, y alma, como en la música necesitan abrir sus oídos, y alma.
Juan-Carlos Hernández es otro nuevo nombre en mi lista de "artistas favoritos", mitad Español, mitad Suizo, corazón repleto de talento para traer a nuestros ojos bellas emociones, cuando sus lentes están flotando amablemente sobre músicos de jazz como Ornette Coleman, Sonny Rollins, Steve Coleman, Dave Douglas.
Y esa es mi invitación, porque con sólo la fantástica foto, como la que pueden ver a la derecha, de Sonny Rollins, puedo decirles que están mirando la punta del iceberg, un cálido "iceberg artístico", con algunas de las más maravillosas fotos que pueden ver estos días sobre el mundo del jazz, fotos que pueden disfrutar una y otra vez visitando el website de Juan-Carlos Hernández.


There's not too much sense to talk about photography, all you need to do to enjoy the experience, just open your eyes, and soul, as in music you need to open your ears, and soul.
Juan-Carlos Hernández is another new name in my "favorite artists" list, half Spanish, half Swiss, heart full of talent to bring to our eyes beautiful emotions, when his lenses are gently floating over
jazz musicians as Ornette Coleman, Sonny Rollins, Steve Coleman, Dave Douglas.

Woody Shaw: su bello sonido, viviendo por siempre / Woody Shaw: his beautiful sound, living forever

Para mi el legado de Woody Shaw está más allá de la música, algo extraño, para mi él es como alguien de mi familia, así es como me siento sobre este maravilloso músico, y creo que muchos de ustedes comparten estos sentimientos,
Dave Douglas, por supuesto, está en esa "lista".
Dave Douglas, otro talentoso trompetista, será el Curador & Director Artístico para el Festival de Nueva Música de Trompeta - The Festival of New Trumpet Music - (FONT), y este año el Festival estará honrando el enorme impacto de Woody Shaw (1944-1989) en el jazz, y, etiquetas a un lado, en la música.
La cita, septiembre 25 al 28, en el Jazz Standard (116 East 27th Street, New York, 212-576-2232).
Pero eso no es todo, tenemos un as bajo nuestra manga, porque el 27 de septiembre, una celebración especial con la música de Woody Shaw, y The Woody Shaw Legacy Ensemble: Brass Knights, con la dirección musical de Victor Lewis, si mis amigos, el único e incomparable baterista y compositor, y una más que importante parte en las bandas de Woody Shaw, ayudando a Victor Lewis para entregar alguna de la mejor música que pueden disfrutar estos días, Sean Jones (trompeta), Nick Roseboro (trompeta), Ezana Edwards (trompeta, miembro de la banda Foxhound), Dwayne Burno (contrabajo), y Mulgrew Miller (piano).
Si están en New York no pueden perder esta oportunidad, para decir, con todos los músicos, y hasta conmigo, desde este lejano rincón de Sudamérica: gracias Woody, gracias por la música.




For me Woody Shaw's legacy it's beyond music, strange thing, for me he's like someone from my family, that's how I feel about this wonderful musician, and I believe many of you share these feelings, Dave Douglas, of course, it's on that "list".

El talentoso trompetista Dave Douglas estará tocando con su Quinteto en el Teatro Opera (Corrientes 860, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires). Material de su última grabación: “Live At the Jazz Standard” ("En Vivo en el Jazz Standard") (Greenleaf Music, 2007), y de álbumes previos, hay mucha buena música en le extensa carrera de Dave Douglas.
Junto con Dave Douglas y su trompeta, Uri Caine en piano Fender Rhodes, Donny McCaslin en saxos, Eric Revis en contrabajo y Clarence Penn en batería.
Antes del Dave Douglas Quinteto, la presentación de la nueva banda de Mariano Otero, el Mariano Otero Septeto, con Mariano Loiácono en trompeta y flugelhorn, Ramiro Flores y Rodrigo Domínguez en saxo alto, Francisco Lo Vuolo en piano Fender Rhodes, Patricio Carpossi en guitarra, Sergio Verdinelli en batería y Mariano Otero en contrabajo.
