Si echo un vistazo a los artículos que he estado publicando este año dos palabras vienen a mi cabeza, "mujeres" y "Dinamarca", bueno, no es una mujer en esta ocasión, porque quiero compartir mis pensamientos sobre el nuevo disco de un guitarrista de jazz muy talentoso llamado Søren Dahl Jeppesen, y bueno, él es de Dinamarca.

No es gran secreto, la escena del jazz es muy poderosa en los países Nórdicos Europeos, y esto no es nuevo, pero en los últimos veinte años es sorprendente la gran cantidad de fresca y hermosa música creciendo y creciendo allí, y "Pipe Dreams / "Sueños imposibles" (Dog Day Music, 2013) de Søren Dahl Jeppesen es otro buen ejemplo de esa brillante tendencia artística.

¡Y que banda maravillosa! Algunos de los mejores músicos de Dinamarca están profundamente involucrados en el proyecto, y nunca, así como Søren Dahl Jeppesen hace, la banda olvida que son parte de un grupo musical con el objetivo de ofrecer la mejor música posible.

Mi primera impresión escuchando el álbum es un sentimiento profundo y melancólico a través de todas las composiciones, una fantástica calidad en cada composición, abriendo un mundo de tranquilos y pacíficos espacios, atmósferas a veces muy conmovedoras, y pequeñas sonrisas aquí y allí.

En un mundo donde los medios de comunicación masivos dedicados al entretenimiento están el día entero bombardeandonos con falsa felicidad, es una verdadera maravilla encontrar un momento para detenerse, y descubrir una clase de jazz tan tierno e interesante, para mantenernos humanos, por lo menos tanto como esta música toque nuestras almas, corazones, y oídos.

If I take a look to the articles I'd been publishing this year two words come to my mind, "women" and "Denmark", well, not a woman this time, because I want to share my thoughts about the new album from a very talented jazz guitar player called Søren Dahl Jeppesen, and well, he's from Denmark.

No big secret, the jazz scene is very powerful in the European Nordic countries, and this is not new, but in the last twenty years is amazing the great amount of fresh and beautiful music growing and growing there, and Søren Dahl Jeppesen's "Pipe Dreams" (Dog Day Music, 2013) is another good example from that bright artistic trend.

And what a wonderful band! Some of the best musicians from Denmark are deeply involved in the project, and never, as Søren Dahl Jeppesen do, the band forgets they're part of a musical team with the goal to deliver the best possible music.

My first impression listening the album is a deep and melancholic feeling throughout all the compositions, a fantastic quality in each composition, opening a world of quiet and peaceful spaces, sometimes very poignant atmospheres, and little smiles here and there.

In a world where the mass media dedicated to entertainment are the whole day bombing us with fake happiness, is a real wonder to find a moment to stop, and to discover a kind of jazz so tender and interesting, to keep us humans, at least for as long this music touches our souls, hearts, and ears.

Si echan una mirada a la biografía de Amy Duncan encontrarán las palabras folk y Escocesa, y aún cuando algún aire Celta esta presente en todos sus álbumes , la música que ella crea es mucho más rica, desde su primera grabación a su nuevo material, incluído en "Cycles of Life" / Ciclos de Vida" (Linn Records, 2013), editado en estos días de Abril, encontrarán grandes descubrimientos musicales en todo el camino.

Su voz, casi perfecta en el pasado, es mucho más sabia, ella canta ahora con un sentimiento más profundo, más cálido, y sus composiciones, como ella las llama, "emotivas canciones sobre la vida", son refrescantes, y suficientemente bellas para mantenerlos conectados de la primera a la última nota.

Amy Duncan es la clase de artista independiente a la que realmente le deseas que encuentre una ruta directa al éxito, porque es honesta, y talentosa, y nosotros necesitamos, más que nunca, sin importar el género o estilo, tener estos fantásticos artistas a nuestro alrededor.

If you take a look at Amy Duncan's biography you’ll find the words folk and Scottish, and even when some Celtic air is present in all her albums, the music she creates is much more richer, from her first recording to her new material, included in "Cycles of Life" (Linn Records, 2013)”, to be released on these April's days, you'll find great musical discoveries all the way.

Amy Duncan was kind enough to send me "Cycles of Life" (Linn Records, 2013)”, and last friday I spent the whole night listening the precious songs, compositions with colorful nuances, electroacoustic folk, yes, but also some jazz air, and even interesting touches from classical music here and there.
Amy Duncan is a very talented multi instrumentist (even a gifted double bass player), and that talent is also essential in the high musical quality from all her work.

In previous days, before the chance to listen her last album, I was listening from the beginning each step from her brief but fruitful career, and this “experiment”, always something interesting to do with any artist, show me a great improvement from an already great take off.

Her voice, almost perfect in the past, is much wiser, she sings now with a deeper feeling, warmer, and her compositions, as she call them, “emotional songs about life”, are refreshing, and beautiful enough to keep you connected from the first to the last note.

Amy Duncan is the kind of independent artist you really wish her to find a straight road to success, because she’s honest, and talented, and we need, more than ever, no matter the genre or style, to have these fantastic artists around us.

Emilie Weibel: refrescando bellamente el jazz cantado / beautifully refreshing vocal jazz

Me gusta la palabra "refrescante", si son seguidores de mi blog deben saber eso muy bien, pero la utilización de semejante palabra siempre está justificada, en el caso de Emilie Weibel , más que nunca.

Conocí el trabajo de Emilie Weibel hace algún tiempo, entonces ella estaba compartiendo varias colaboraciones con músicos de vanguardia y free-jazz, pero la barrera no estaba allí, pop, y música electrónica también eran parte del equipaje.

Ahora Emilie Weibel está abriendo un espacio para desarrollar su carrera solista, y un nombre maravilloso, "Omoo", ligado al gran Herman Melville, es la llave a ese mágico universo.

Suiza es el país en donde Emilie Weibel nació, los Estados Unidos el sitio en donde ella vive, una poderosa combinación, donde pueden agregar las influencias del scat de jazz, aún cuando ella está haciendo algo realmente nuevo en ese campo, y colores de Brasil y Africa también están en su sendero creativo.

Mis buenos amigos, ustedes lo saben, músicos como Emilie Weibel, manteniendo la música viva gracias a un constante esfuerzo y amor a su trabajo, merecen todo nuestro apoyo, el buen arte debe sobrevivir, pero es imposible si no mantenemos nuestras almas, corazones, y oídos, bien abiertos, por favor no lo olviden.

I like the world "refreshing", if you're a follower from my blog you must know that pretty well, but the use of such word is always justified, in Emilie Weibel case, more than ever.

I knew Emilie Weibel work some time ago, then she was sharing several collaborations with free jazz and avant-garde musicians, but the barrier wasn't there, pop, and electronic music were part of the baggage too.

Now Emilie Weibel is opening a space to develop a solo career, and a wonderful name, "Omoo", linked to the great Herman Melville, is the key to that magical universe.

Switzerland is the place where Emilie Weibel was born, the United States the place where she lives, a powerful combination, where you can add the influences from jazz scat, even when she's really doing something new in that field, and colors from Brazil and Africa are also in her creative path.

My good friends, you know, musicians like Emilie Weibel, keeping music alive thanks to a constant effort and love to their work, deserve all our support, good art must survive, but is impossible if we can't keep our souls, hearts, and ears, wide open, please don't you forget it.

Estoy escuchando / I'm listening: Søren Bebe Trio - "A Song For You" (Spice of Life, 2012)

Hace muchos años, a finales de los años cuarenta, Europa se convirtió en un sitio especial para los músicos Norteamericanos de jazz, y los países Nórdicos estaban entre sus favoritos, sólo recuerden la demostración de cientos de jóvenes cuando el gobierno Danés se negó a dar al gran saxofonista Dexter Gordon un permiso para permanecer en el país, gritando con fuerza: "¡Queremos a Dexter!".
Bueno mis amigos. estamos nuevamente en Dinamarca, donde las viejas semillas del jazz son ahora coloridas flores y fuertes árboles en la escena Europea de jazz, y el joven pianista Danés Søren Bebe un estupendo ejemplo para ver como la magia musical aún sigue floreciendo.

El último álbum de Søren Bebe, con su trío, es "A Song For You" (Spice of Life, 2012), mayormente baladas, pero no la típica grabación de baladas, porque encontrarán espacio para la tristeza, la alegría, tensión, y la habilidad al piano de Søren Bebe siempre alerta para entregar momentos asombrosos, con la brillante colaboración de Niels Ryde en bajo eléctrico y Anders Mogensen en batería.

"Again and Again", para abrir esos cerrados círculos internos.

"Free, Free, Set Them Free", bella libertad, finalmente.

Mis buenos amigos, el jazz está aquí para quedarse, y debemos pensar gracias a gente como Søren Bebe y sus socios musicales.
Como me gusta decir, "el buen arte debe sobrevivir", y nosotros, al otro lado del escenario, somos una fuerza esencial para mantener a estos fantásticos músicos vivitos y coleando.


Many years ago, by the end of the forties, Europe became a very special place for North American jazz musicians, and the Nordic countries were between their favorites, just remember the demonstration from hundreds of young people when the Danish government refused to give the great sax player Dexter Gordon a permit to stay in the country, crying out loud: "We want Dexter!"
Well my friends, we're again in Denmark, where the old seeds from jazz are now colorful flowers and strong trees in the jazz European scene, and the young Danish pianist Søren Bebe a marvellous example to see how the musical magic is still blossoming.

The last album from Søren Bebe, with his trio, is "A Song For You" (Spice of Life, 2012), mostly ballads, but not the kind of typical ballads recording, because you'll find space for sadness, joy, tension, and Søren Bebe's piano skills are always alert to deliver amazing moments, with the brilliant collaboration from Niels Ryde on electric bass and Anders Mogensen on drums.

As usual, I've got some very personal impressions from the beautiful music included in the album:

"Maria", sweet as a tender lullaby.
"A Song For You", running away from melancholy.
"Oh Shenandoah", a superb interpretation of a unique piece of music.
"Hope", if there's hope, there's happiness.
"Nocturne", walking gently into the night dreams.
"Country Road", musical roads are always healthy choices.
"Remembering B", blues, but not blue.
"Again and Again", to open those closed inner circles.
"A Song For You, Too", on the right way to a sunny day.
"Free, Free, Set Them Free", beautiful freedom, at last.

My good friends, jazz is here to stay, and we must think thanks to people as Søren Bebe and his musical partners.
As I like to say, "good art must survive", and we, at the other side of the stage, are an essential force to keep these fantastic new musicians alive and kicking.

Estoy escuchando / I'm listening: Norris Trío - "300" (enonane records, 2012)

Hace unos días estaba diciendo a un amigo que odio las listas, y "listas de éxitos" también, especialmente en estos días, cuando un año está llegando a su fin, en todos lados, una loca manera de mirar sobre nuestro hombro para ver los meses pasados, pero, como ser humano, necesito cerrar algunas puertas de tanto en tanto, y pienso que mi última selección de música para 2012 es la correcta.

Norris Trío - "300" (enonane records, 2012) es la última grabación del Norris Trío con Cristián Bórtoli, su contrabajista original, pero no hay tristeza aqui, sólo la pura alegría que usualmente podemos encontrar en cada álbum de este asombroso grupo de jazz.

Enrique Norris es el hombre a cargo, pero no en la "manera capitán barco pirata", la libertad está en la aire, y por supuesto dentro, y hasta fuera de la música.
Pablo Díaz en batería, también un miembro original de esta bella experiencia musical, es siempre una poderosa fuerza creativa, toda la banda puede entregar una joya de jazz detrás de otra, con la misma refrescante magia.

"La risa del eco", algunas veces la bella combinación entre los sonidos de Africa y el jazz están muy cerca.
"Brillo nuclear", jazz y blues bajo un dulce brillo.
"Bapol", si habla el piano, silencio para escuchar y disfrutar.
"Tres pronósticos", cuando la belleza está escondida en una pieza musical.
"P.M.", volando alto en una amigable jam de jazz.
"Ticrinas", cierren sus ojos, y sueñen.
"Odmun", si hay swing, sólo bailen.
"Keté keté", Africa, nuevamente, un placer, como es habitual.
"A veeer", la noche está bien abierta.
"Te buscan", y maravillosos sonidos los encontrarán.
"Es inútil que blá, blá, blá, blá...", diciendo adiós a la manera del jazz.

Lo dije hace muchos años, para el Norris Trío el jazz es sólo una llave, desde allí ellos pueden ir a donde quieran, el patio de juegos es un sitio abierto para explorar, y a ellos les encanta hacerlo, y lo harán nuevamente en su próximo álbum, con Maximiliano Kirszner, su nuevo contrabajista.

Mis amigos, nada más que decir,sólo abran sus almas, corazones, y oídos, la buena música está aquí para quedarse.


A few days ago I was telling a friend that I hate lists, and "top lists" too, specially these days, when a year is reaching its end, everywhere, a crazy way to look back over your shoulder to see the past months, but, as a human being, I need to close some doors from time to time, and I think my last music selection for 2012 is the right one.

Norris Trío - "300" (enonane records, 2012) is the last recording from the Norris Trío with Cristián Bórtoli, its original double bass player, but there's not sadness here, just the pure joy we usually can find in each album from this amazing jazz group.

Enrique Norris is the man on charge, but not in the "pirate ship captain way", freedom is in the air, and of course inside and even outside the music.
Pablo Díaz on drums, also an original member from this beautiful musical experience, is always a strong creative force, the whole band can deliver one gem of jazz after another, with the same refreshing magic.

Estoy escuchando / I'm listening: Træben - "Push" - (Jarr Records, 2012)

Me gustan las redes sociales, pero las verdaderas, y cuando la gente puede realmente entender el poder detrás de ellas, por ese maravilloso poder ahora estoy disfrutando este fantástico álbum de la banda Danesa / Holandesa de jazz Træben.

He estado escuchando "Push" - (Jarr Records, 2012) toda la semana, y la primera impresión, luego del asombroso talento de los músicos involucrados, es recordar la famosa cita de Dizzy Gillespie: “Un pie en el pasado y un pie en el futuro.”, porque Træben puede saltar desde muchos reconocidos, y adorables territorios del jazz, a frescos y desconocidos nuevos senderos musicales.

Al frente la presencia de Jens Larsen en guitarra y Søren Ballegaard en saxo, ellos pueden ir dentro y fuera, algunas dulces y lentas líneas, entonces algunos oscuros y filosos sonidos, y no están solos, Olaf Meijer en contrabajo está más allá de un apoyo confiable, lo mismo para Haye Jellema en batería, manteniendo el ritmo vivo, algunas veces una montaña rusa, o sólo una calesita.

"Top Dog", una invitación rítmica casi furiosa para abrir el álbum.
"Try To Remember", mirando hacia atrás, con ternura.
"God Makes Backups", pueden encontrar belleza también en los medios tempos.
"Can You?", una amable pregunta a la que amaran responder.
"Catatraffic", un intenso viaje melódico.
"All It Needs", manténgalo limpio y la dulce música florecerá.
"We'll Let You Know", un ritmo rápido es sólo el comienzo.
"Simple Things", recuerden, aún las cosas simples los pueden impactar profundamente.
"Nothing Or Nothing at All", una big band de cuatro.

Træben es un gran ejemplo de la gente haciendo lo correcto en la escena de la música independiente, un sitio en donde debemos echar una mirada profunda más a menudo, por el jazz, y por otras maravillas siempre esperando por un alma verdaderamente viva, enamorada de la buena música.


I like social networks, but the real ones, and when people can really understand the power behind them, for that wonderful power now I'm enjoying this fantastic album from the Danish / Dutch jazz band Træben.

I'd been listening "Push" - (Jarr Records, 2012) the whole week, and the first impression. after the amazing talent from the musicians involved, is to remember Dizzy Gillespie's famous quote: “One foot in the past and one foot in the future.”, because Træben can jump from many well known, and lovely jazz territories, to fresh an unknown new musical paths.

At front the presence from Jens Larsen on guitar and Søren Ballegaard on sax, they can go in and out, some sweet and slow lines, then some obscure and sharp sounds, and they're not alone, Olaf Meijer on double bass is beyond a reliable support, the same for Haye Jellema on drums, keeping rhythm alive, sometimes a roller-coaster, or just a children carousel.

"Top Dog", an almost furious rhythmic invitation to open the album.
"Try To Remember", looking back, with tenderness.
"God Makes Backups", you can find beauty also in medium tempos.
"Can You?", a gently question you'll love to answer.
"Catatraffic", an intense melodic trip.
"All It Needs", keep it clear and sweet music will blossom.
"We'll Let You Know", a fast rhythm is just the beginning.
"Simple Things", remember, even simple things can touch you real deep.
"Nothing Or Nothing at All", a big band of four.
"Mi Hijo", walking slowly into Latin jazz.

Træben is a great example from the people doing the right thing in the independent music scene, a place where we must take a deep look more often, for jazz, and for other wonders always waiting for a truly living soul, in love with good music.

Estoy escuchando / I'm listening: Scott McLemore - "Remote Location" (2012)

Desde mi punto de vista este es uno de los álbumes más bellos de 2012, Scott McLemore, un baterista Norteamericano, viviendo en Islandia desde hace muchos años, y su refrescante último trabajo llamado "Remote Location" (2012).

Estoy escribiendo, y también escuchando el álbum, nuevamente, y cada pieza de música está conectada a alguna profunda emoción, el pasado, el presente, el sitio al que llamamos hogar, aún cuando no nos encontremos más allí.

Scott McLemore toca con un sutil, pero fuerte encanto, no aleja al resto de los músicos, él es el gran paisaje donde sus socios musicales pueden expresar sus sentimientos,

Sunna Gunnlaugs (piano & Wurlitzer), una reconocida y talentosa pianista de jazz de Islandia, también la mujer de Scott McLemore, puede ser poderosa y al mismo tiempo mover sus dedos con una precisión temible, nunca eclipsando el alma y corazón de la música.

Óskar Guðjónsson puede compartir los bellos sonidos de su saxo en un entorno de jazz de vanguardia, o, como en esta grabación, en un sitio donde está más cerca del jazz moderno, y realiza un gran trabajo en todos lados.

Andrés Thor es otro dotado músico de ese asombroso país musical llamado Islandia, y puede saltar de suaves y melancólicos sonidos folk, a fuertes laberintos de puro jazz.

Róbert Þórhallsson esta a cargo del contrabajo, y también la guitarra bajo eléctrica y acústica, él camina arriba y abajo con la la clase de creatividad que encontrarán en todo el álbum.

Y regresando a la música incluída aquí, puedo decirles cosas como estas:

"Dunegrass", buscando un lugar donde el verde es más verde.

"Woods at Night", disfruten esta tranquila y estupenda noche.

"Waking", buen momento para un lento despertar.

"Balkelero", un día brillante puede sorprendernos en cualquier lado.

"Don't Miss the Signs", un blues muy dulce.

"Movement for Motian", un sentido homenaje al maravilloso Paul Motian.

Después de todo, escuchando este álbum, puedo confiar en que hay mucha buena música para descubrir allí fuera, debemos agradecer a Scott McLemore y a todos los involucrados en este proyecto, porque ellos encendieron esas brillantes luces musicales una vez más.


From my point of view this is one of the most beautiful albums from 2012, Scott McLemore, a North American drummer, living in Iceland since many years go, and his refreshing last work called "Remote Location" (2012).

I'm writing, and also listening the album, again, and each piece of music is connected to some deep emotion, the past, the present, the place we call home, even when we're not longer there.

Scott McLemore plays with a subtle, but strong charm, he doesn't push away the rest of the musicians, he's the big landscape where his musical partners can express their feelings.

Sunna Gunnlaugs (piano & Wurlitzer), a well known and talented jazz pianist from Iceland, also Scott McLemore's wife, can be powerful and at the same time to move her fingers with a scary precision, never overshadowing the soul and heart from the music.

Óskar Guðjónsson can share his beautiful saxophone's sounds in an avant-garde jazz environment, or, as in this recording, in a place where he's closer to modern jazz, and he does a great job everywhere.

Andrés Thor is another gifted musician from that amazing musical country called Iceland, and he can jump from soft and melancholic folk sounds, to strong pure jazz labyrinths.

Róbert Þórhallsson is on charge of the double bass, and also the electric and acoustic bass guitar, he walks up and down with the kind of creativity you'll find in the whole album.

And going back to the music included here, I can tell you things like these:

"Remote Location", a warm musical lanscape.

"Secrets of Earth", slowly walking into magical and hidden places.

"Citizen Sitting Zen", a tender trip to the best places inside us.

"Una Danza en la Cocina", a brief and gentle invitation to a beautiful dance.

"Dunegrass", looking for a place where the green is greener.

"Woods at Night", enjoy this quite and marvellous night.

"Waking", a good time for a slow wake up.

"Balkelero", a bright day can surprise us everywhere.

"Don't Miss the Signs", a very sweet blues.

"Movement for Motian", a heartfelt tribute to the wonderful Paul Motian.

After all, listening this album, I can trust there's a lot of good music to discover out there, we must thanks to people as Scott McLemore and to everyone involved in this project, because they turned on those bright musical lights once again.

Esta grabación estuvo en las calles a fines de 2011, pero sólo unos meses luego del comienzo de 2012 finalmente cayó en mis manos

Es extraño cuando debemos hablar de la gran experiencia de músicos muy jóvenes, no sólo Nicolás Chientaroli (piano), Carlos Alvarez (contrabajo) y Hernán Rodríguez (batería) pueden decir mucho sobre sus maravillosas batallas musicales, los tres talentosos músicos son desde hace varios años una importante referencia en diferentes proyectos de la escena de jazz de Argentina.

"La casa caliente" (Sofá Records, 2011) es el segundo disco del trío, luego del fantástico "La música está prohibida" (2007), y aún cuando el primer álbum estaba claramente bajo la atmósfera del free jazz, este nuevo trabajo, manteniendo ese refrescante aire, es un creativo homenaje al jazz anterior a la vanguardia.

"Genekrupezca", y su loco swing de las viejas orquestas de jazz, saltando a nuestro presente con encanto y estilo.

"Pasos de gigante", desarrollando curiosos senderos entre la paz y la tensión.

"Thonk", una gran pieza musical donde uno puede comprender la presencia de los estupendos Carlos Alvarez (contrabajo) y Hernán Rodríguez (batería)

"¡¡Ahí vienen los indios!!" un mágico viaje hacia nuestras raíces, volando con la ayuda de las asombrosas sutilezas del piano de Nicolás Chientaroli.

"ABC", un momento vivaz para recuperar nuestro aliento.

"Donde hay un perro, cotiza la carne", algo de aire de blues siempre es bienvenido.

Y luego de estas seis bellas piezas musicales, tienen la oportunidad de abrir sus almas, corazones, y oídos, a la buena música, la clase de música que necesitamos para mantener neustros cerebros en buena forma, y felices.


This recording was on the streets by the end of 2011, but only some months after 2012 beginning it finally fell on my hands.

It is trange when we must talk about the great experience from very young musicians, not only Nicolás Chientaroli (piano), Carlos Alvarez (double bass) and Hernán Rodríguez (drums) can say a lot about their wonderful musical battles, the three talented musicians are from several year ago an important reference in different projects in jazz scene from Argentina.

"La casa caliente" / "The hot house" (Sofá Records, 2011) is the trio second album, after the fantastic "La música está prohibida" / "The music it's forbidden" (2007), and even when the first album was clearly under the free jazz atmosphere, this new work, keeping that refreshing air, is a creative tribute to the jazz before avant-garde.

"Genekrupezca", and its crazy swing from the old jazz orchestras, jumping to our present with charm and style.

"Pasos de gigante" / "Giant steps", developing curious paths between peace and tension.

"Thonk", a great musical piece where you can understand the presence from the marvellous Carlos Alvarez (double bass) and Hernán Rodríguez (drums)

"¡¡Ahí vienen los indios!! / "The indians are coming!!", a magical trip to our roots, flying with the help from Nicolás Chientaroli's amazing piano subtleties.

"ABC", a lively moment to catch our breath back.

"Donde hay un perro, cotiza la carne" / "Where there's a dog, meat price is high", some blues air is always welcome.

And after those beautiful six musical pieces, you've got the chance to open your souls, hearts, and ears, to good music, the kind of music we need to keep our brains in good shape, and happy.

Estoy escuchando / I'm listening: Ada Rave Cuarteto - "La continuidad" / "The continuity" (PAI Records, 2012)

Mucha agua musical ha pasado bajo el puente desde mi primer artículo sobre Ada Rave en este blog, eso fue en 2008.

Ada Rave estuvo ocupada aprendiendo, enseñando, grabando en otros proyectos, y este álbum de 2012 es una fantástica declaración musical sobre su presente.

Más allá de los poderosos sonidos en el saxo de Ada Rave, y la gran sociedad con dos jóvenes músicos como Martín de Lassaletta (contrabajo y percusión) y Martín López Grande (batería), hay una presencia muy, muy importante en este álbum: Wenchi Lazo en guitarras y procesadores, un músico con un talento y experiencia únicos, no sólo para la escena de la música Argentina, sus habilidades y creatividad con la guitarra pueden ir fácilmente fuera de este mundo.

Si echan una mirada rápida a los nombres de las piezas incluídas en esta grabación, encontrarán buenas pistas sobre la clase de música grabada, un estupendo homenaje al free jazz y a la vanguardia, pero también a algunos de los senderos previos en esa dirección.

La introducción a "La lente mágica de Ornette" / "Ornette magic lens" con el saxo gritando su profunda angustia, y la guitarra eléctrica detrás enseñando la puerta para algo de alivio.

"Baila con Monk", simple, una invitación a una sentida dance free jazz bop.

"El garca de Noé" es la clase de viaje introspectivo que la música masiva, tristemente, no puede darnos (o no quiere hacerlo).

"El tono y la ética Braxtono", algo de punk rock encuentra furiosos sonidos de jazz, gran matrimonio.

"Jardín Chino" es un curioso viaje al centro del free jazz tocado por algunos rayos de sol orientales.

"No te olvides de las cosas sencillas", una tierna invitación a mantener nuestro lado humano vivito y coleando.

"Utopías humánicas", de la calma a la tormenta en dos fáciles pasos.

"Out to lunch" / "Salí a almorzar", un gran homenaje al único e incomparable Eric Dolphy.

"La nave del poeta", un mágico viaje gracias a las creativas alas musicales de Wenchi Lazo.

Mis buenos amigos, otra bella joya en el mundo del free jazz y la vanguardia, una grabación para disfrutar de comienzo a fin, entonces, corran ahora y consigan este asombroso álbum.


A lot of musical water under the bridge since my first article about Ada Rave in this blog, that was 2008.

Ada Rave was busy learning, teaching, recording in other projects, and this 2012 album is a fantastic musical statement about her brilliant present.

Beyond the powerful sounds in Ada Rave's sax, and the great partnership with two young musicians as Martín de Lassaletta (double bass and percussion) and Martín López Grande (drums), there's a presence very, very important in this album: Wenchi Lazo on guitars and processors, a musician with a unique talent and experience, not only for the Argentina's music scene, his abilities and creativity with the guitar can go easily out of this word.

If you take a quick look to the names of the pieces included in this recording you'll find good clues about the kind of music recorded, a marvellous tribute to free jazz and avant-garde, but also to some of the previous paths in that direction.

The intro to "La lente mágica de Ornette" / "Ornette magic lens" with the sax screaming its deep angst, and the electric guitar on the back showing the door to some relief.

"Baila con Monk" / "Dance with Monk", simple, an invitation to a soulful free jazz bop dance.

"El garca de Noé" is the kind of introspective travel mass music, sadly, can give us (or doesn't want to do it).

"El tono y la ética Braxtono" / "The tone and the Braxtone ethics", some punk rock meet furious jazz sounds, a great marriage.

"Jardín Chino" / "Chinese garden" is a curious travel to the center of free jazz touched by some oriental sunlight.
