He estado hablando en los últimos días sobre algo que me molesta, los artistas subestimados, los olvidados, los grandes y desconocidos músicos talentosos, que el tiempo, y la gente, están dejando atrás, no importa si el músico está vivo o muerto.
Entonces, mi idea, alentarlos a todos ustedes allí fuera, amantes de la música, a mantener a sus artistas favoritos cerca de sus corazones, y oídos, compartiendo su música con familia y amigos, y aún tratando de alcanzar a gente desconocida, enviando mensajes a las radios, utilizando internet.
Hoy, mañana, por siempre, tenemos, tendremos, una gran deuda de gratitud con los artistas, y sería una manera maravillosa de decir gracias, gracias por la bella música en nuestras vidas...


There's not a single name or link here, because you must add them, not exactly here if you don't want to.
I'd been talking in the last days about something that bothers me, the underrated artists, the forgotten ones, the great and unknown talented musicians, that time, and people, are leaving behind, no matter if the musician it's alive or dead.
So, my idea, to encourage all of you out there, music lovers, to keep your favorite artists close to your hearts, and ears, sharing their music with family and friends, and even trying to reach unknown people, sending messages to the radios, using internet.
Today, tomorrow, forever, we've got, will have, a great debt of gratitude with the artists, and would be a wonderful way to say thanks, thanks for the beautiful music in our lives...

Mis amigos bajistas y contrabajistas en Twitter estarán más que felices con esta invitación, para disfrutar la música de jazz de la contrabajista y compositora Anne Mette Iversen (miembro de The Brooklyn Jazz Underground, un grupo de músicos de jazz abriendo espacios de creatividad en una dura realidad musical, también con un sello discográfico, Brooklyn Jazz Underground Records como herramienta de ayuda), junto con su Cuarteto.
El show será parte de un evento al aire libre en Urban Meadow, President Street, Red Hook / Columbia Waterfront District, pueden tener un picnic mientras están disfrutando de la música y el paisaje.

My bass players and acoustic bass players friends at Twitter will be more than happy with this invitation, to enjoy the jazz music from acoustic bass player and composer Anne Mette Iversen (member from The Brooklyn Jazz Underground, a group of jazz musicians opening spaces of creativity in a tough music reality, also with a record label, Brooklyn Jazz Underground Records as helping tool), along with her Quartet.
The show will be part of an outdoors event at the Urban Meadow, President Street, Red Hook / Columbia Waterfront District, you can have a picnic while you are enjoying the music and the landscape.

Mariana Masetto: cuando la música folklórica sonríe... / Mariana Masetto: when folkloric music smiles...

No importa el país, para mi existen dos maneras de interpretar música folklórica, una para el museo, sin colores o sentimientos, la otra, trayendo de nuevo a la vida las vivas raíces, con todos sus matices, encontrarán a Mariana Masetto firme en la "barricada" de la segunda opción.
Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile, música popular de todos esos países, desde un fresco punto de vista, gracias a una bella voz, y un innovador uso de la percusión, dando a "acústico" su verdadero significado, terrestre, colorido.
Todos ustedes pueden disfrutar esta más que fantástica experiencia, con Mariana Masetto en voz y percusión, y en esta ocasión con un invitado especial, Lucas Loberto en contrabajo, este jueves 4, junio 2009, 21:30 hs., en La Paila (Costa Rica 4848, entre Thames y Borges, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina).
Gracias a esta clase de músicos podemos aprender sobre nuestras raíces musicales, no hay necesidad de vestir extraños disfraces para hacerlo, un honesto amor para mantener viva la música folklórica es suficiente...

Enrique Norris, músico de jazz, y algo más (otro excelente músico que no pueden etiquetar), estará tocando en Notorious (Av. Callao 966, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina), pero con un entorno musical diferente en cada presentación.

Virasoro After Dark: grandes sonidos detrás de cada gran película / Virasoro After Dark: great sounds behind each great movie

Se que en Virasoro Bar (Guatemala 4328, Palermo, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina), más allá del profundo amor de sus propietarios por la mejor música, existe un muy conocido interés en las más maravillosas películas también, y ahora están reuniendo estas dos formas de arte en un fantástico show llamado "Virasoro After Dark", cada martes por la noche, 21:30 hs.
Cine clásico, si, pero cada mes está dedicado a un compositor de bandas de sonido, fue Max Steiner en abril, en mayo Miklos Rozsa, este mes, junio, Franz Waxman, y las películas, y compositores, espero, continuarán durante todo el año.
Junio, para mi, tiene dos personalmente favoritas, "Fury" (Fritz Lang, 1936, 90'), y la única e incomparable, la película "perfecta" "Sunset Boulevard" (Billy Wilder, 1950, 110'), pero todas las películas incluídas en estas selecciones son excelentes.
Sobre Franz Waxman, bueno, la clase de compositor que no encuentran en el cine de estos días, un verdadero genio.
Entonces, como siempre en Virasoro Bar (Guatemala 4328, Palermo, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina), oídos bien abiertos, pero en esta ocasión, los ojos también...


I know that in Virasoro Bar (Guatemala 4328, Palermo, Autonomic City of Buenos Aires, Argentina), beyond the deep love from their owners for the best music, there's a well known interest in the most wonderful movies too, and now they're joining together this two art forms into a fantastic show called "Virasoro After Dark", each tuesday night, 9:30 pm.
Classic movies, yes, but each month it's dedicated to a soundtrack composer, was Max Steiner on april, on may Miklos Rozsa, this month, june, Franz Waxman, and the movies, and composers, I hope, will continue for the whole year.
June, for me, has two personal favorites, "Fury" (Fritz Lang, 1936, 90'), and the one and only, the "perfect" movie "Sunset Boulevard" (Billy Wilder, 1950, 110'), but all the movies included in these selections are excellent.
About Franz Waxman, well, the kind of composer you don't find in the movies these days, a real genius.
So, as always in Virasoro Bar (Guatemala 4328, Palermo, Autonomic City of Buenos Aires, Argentina), ears wide open, but this time, eyes too...

No hay una metáfora vacía en el título, si tienen la suerte suficiente para escuchar a esta nueva banda, ustedes también estarán escuchando el sonido de uno de los músicos más interesantes de la escena del jazz local: Carlos Álvarez.
Ahora con su propio proyecto, porque él no es desconocido para la mayoría de los amantes de la buena música, fue una pieza importante, y aún lo es, en muchas otras bandas.
Carlos Álvarez (contrabajo) estará compartiendo su nuevo trabajo con nosotros, y por supuesto con los otros miembros del Carlos Álvarez Trío, Rodrigo Domínguez (saxo) y Hernán Mandelman (batería), dos grandes socios musicales, entonces, esta es una invitación para todos, lunes por la noche, junio 1, 2009, 21:30 hs., en Notorious (Av. Juan-Carlos Hernández: ojos de jazz / Juan-Carlos Hernández: jazz's eyes

No tiene mucho sentido hablar sobre fotografía, todo lo que necesitan hacer para disfrutar la experiencia, sólo abrir sus ojos, y alma, como en la música necesitan abrir sus oídos, y alma.
Juan-Carlos Hernández es otro nuevo nombre en mi lista de "artistas favoritos", mitad Español, mitad Suizo, corazón repleto de talento para traer a nuestros ojos bellas emociones, cuando sus lentes están flotando amablemente sobre músicos de jazz como Ornette Coleman, Sonny Rollins, Steve Coleman, Dave Douglas.
Y esa es mi invitación, porque con sólo la fantástica foto, como la que pueden ver a la derecha, de Sonny Rollins, puedo decirles que están mirando la punta del iceberg, un cálido "iceberg artístico", con algunas de las más maravillosas fotos que pueden ver estos días sobre el mundo del jazz, fotos que pueden disfrutar una y otra vez visitando el website de Juan-Carlos Hernández.


There's not too much sense to talk about photography, all you need to do to enjoy the experience, just open your eyes, and soul, as in music you need to open your ears, and soul.
Juan-Carlos Hernández is another new name in my "favorite artists" list, half Spanish, half Swiss, heart full of talent to bring to our eyes beautiful emotions, when his lenses are gently floating over
jazz musicians as Ornette Coleman, Sonny Rollins, Steve Coleman, Dave Douglas.
And that's my invitation, because with just the fantastic photo, like the one you can see at the right, from Sonny Rollins, I can tell that you're looking at the tip of the iceberg, a warm "artistic iceberg", with some of the most wonderful photos you can see these days about the jazz world, photos you can enjoy over and over vistando el website de Juan-Carlos Hernández.

Martín Iannaccone: un largo, y maravilloso camino a la música / Martín Iannaccone: a long, and wonderful road to music

Me gusta buscar música nueva, todo el tiempo, pero en algunas ocasiones puede ser una tarea abrumadora, demasiada buena música, y muy poco tiempo, entonces, algún extraño episodio puede traer a la superficie un artista que conocen, pero no estaban prestando verdadera atención, ese es el caso con el chelista y compositor Martín Iannaccone.
Nacido en Buenos Aires, Argentina, miembro de una familia profundamente musical, su padre, Roberto Yanés, cantante, pianista y compositor, una de las más bellas voces que conozco.
Pero Martín Iannaccone tomó hace mucho tiempo su propio sendero en la música, compartiendo grabaciones y escenarios con semejantes talentos como Pedro Aznar, Juan Carlos "Mono" Fontana, Ernesto Jodos, Santiago Vázquez, Pablo Bobrowicky, Mehmet Ergin, Mario Verandi, Simon Stockhausen.
Varios géneros y estilos, siempre al más alto nivel, y finalmente, desde hace algunos años, tomando la decision de convertir a Berlín en su hogar.
No es tarea fácil poner etiquetas a la música de Martín Iannaccone, y si me conocen, saben que no me gusta etiquetar la música, pero, sólo para ayudar a los "nuevos oyentes", hay un poco de tango y música folklórica de Argentina, modernos sonidos electrónicos, algo de jazz aquí y allí, pero esencialmente, fabulosa música a lo largo del camino.
Entonces, hay sólo una cosa más que hacer, alentarlos a todos ustedes a visitar el website de Martín Iannaccone, si son amantes de la buena música, se que estarán agradecidos.


I like to search for new music, all the time, but sometimes can be an overwhelming task, too much good music, and very little time, then, some strange episode can bring to the surface an artist you know, but you weren't paying real attention, that's the case with the cellist and composer Martín Iannaccone.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, member of a deeply musical family, his father, Roberto Yanés, singer, pianist, composer, one of the most beautiful voices I know.
But Martín Iannaccone took a long time ago his own path in music, sharing recording and stages with such talents as Pedro Aznar, Juan Carlos "Mono" Fontana, Ernesto Jodos, Santiago Vázquez, Pablo Bobrowicky, Mehmet Ergin, Mario Verandi, Simon Stockhausen.
Several genres and styles, always at the highest level, and finally, since some years ago, taking the decision to make Berlin his home.
Not an easy task to put labels on Martín Iannaccone's music, and if you know me, you know I don't like to tag music, but, just to help the "new listeners", there's a little of Argentina's tango and folkloric music, modern electronic sounds, some jazz here and there, but essentially, fabulous music along the way.

Desde los primeros días de este blog la publicidad no estuvo incluida en ninguna forma, pero, hace unos pocos días, la gente de Funky Key, me hizo una oferta para incluir un banner para promocionar un nuevo merchandising, y dije sí.
